01The Challenge
A 15-year-old monolithic system built on end-of-life technology was processing transactions at 4–6 seconds per operation, creating settlement delays and blocking the client's expansion into real-time payment rails.
02Our Solution
We decomposed the monolith into domain-bounded microservices deployed on AWS EKS, rebuilt the data layer with PostgreSQL and Redis caching, and implemented an event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka for real-time event streaming.
The Outcome
Transaction processing time dropped from an average of 5.2 seconds to 180ms. Infrastructure costs fell by 40% through rightsizing and auto-scaling. The platform now supports 10× the previous peak transaction volume with zero unplanned downtime in 18 months post-launch.
